Welcome

I launched exdepressed.com to provide support and resources for those struggling with depression.  

 

Shortly after being diagnosed with major depressive disorder, I began coping by taking notes and putting together a plan to use my experience to help others.

 

My goal was to put together a list of resources and helpful tips to help others as they battle daily with this overlooked and often stigmatized illness. 

 

Through my journey I continue to have ups and downs. As I ride the waves of feeling great to the depths of feeling lost, I attempt to focus on the positives versus the dominance of negative feelings I feel during the darker days of depression (easier said than done).

 

Each person's journey is different. 

 

It is easy to get bogged down with negative self-talk and thinking. Our world seems focus more on the negatives of life.

 

Quieting the negative and refocusing the brain on the positive things happening in life is what ultimately changed my mindset. Research shows the power of positive thinking. Simply focusing a few minutes a day on positive words can change your outlook on depression.

 

Depression and mental illness can be overcome or managed. By focusing on the positive words I have become a stronger person than I was before.

 

Know this... if no one else will walk with you, I will.
