Be Optimistic

Being optimistic doesn’t come easy for me. In fact, many Americans struggle with being being optimistic in a variety of areas in their life. It takes a very concentrated effort for me to be optimistic.

The power of positive thinking is amazing.

During and through my depression, I had a lot of negative thoughts about myself and others. It was difficult for me to focus on positive thoughts. In the beginning, one of my assignments was to text my wife 3 positive thoughts a day. It worked for a while, but it got to the point of texting the same stuff from day to day.

It’s hard to not let circumstances bring you down. Human nature gives us the instinct of wanting to be in control. It’s important to be mindful of our thoughts and think proactively and positively when dealing with a potentially negative situation or circumstance.

Being around optimistic people will help you be more optimistic and happier. Surround yourself with encouraging and positive people.
