When I was ten years old, Mike Tyson had dominated the sport of boxing with a record of 42-0 by knocking out most of his opponents in the first round.

On February 11, 1990, Tyson met his match. James “Buster” Douglas came into the fight with amazing energy and dominated the fight until Tyson struck him with a punch in the eighth round that knocked him to the canvas. It took Douglas nine seconds to get back to his feet. Douglas had barely made it through the round.

The ninth round began. Tyson went after Douglas, but Douglas came out swinging with a variety of combinations leaving Tyson struggling. At the beginning of the tenth round, Douglas knocked Tyson out.

Victorious.

The fight was not easy. Douglas was the underdog and the world hadn’t given him a chance against Tyson.

Despite that he was almost knocked out in the eighth round, Douglas was the first person to defeat Mike Tyson.

The fight against depression isn’t easy. You feel like the underdog, like you’re taking on an undefeated champion, but this is a battle you can fight and win. Taking each day at a time and celebrating small wins makes victory possible.
