Learn everything you can about your illness. My depression stemmed from a physiological issue of my thyroid not producing enough thyroxine. Study ways to help yourself.

Try new things and document the good days and the bad days. Note what changed from the good and the bad days.

Learning as much as you can about depression and the possible physical issue that caused it is important in understanding how to recover from it.

First and foremost, I wanted to know what caused my depression. I didn't understand how I could be motivated and fine and then go to depressed and not wanting to get out of bed within a month or two.

The first month I had trouble accepting it and slept more than I was awake. I didn't want to accept I was one of the 10 American's that suffered with depression. Once I decided to fight and want to change the way I felt, I couldn't stop researching.

What caused it? What can I do to combat it? How can I get rid of negative thinking? How can I get back to where I was? Do I even want to get there?

Seek knowledge. Find the answers to your questions.
